{Love & Loss}

July 2nd, 2011

I just wanted to say thank you, my friends, for your continued support in my absence due to the loss of my father in April.  It’s been difficult to gain momentum after such a great loss. ~

So it’s time for some more confessions.  Here goes:

4. I swam with cow rays in the Gulf of Mexico.

5. I can never eat an entire banana.

6. It takes me a long time to make up my mind.

Confessions.

I have a tough time blogging for  a few reasons and I am going to share them with you.

1.  I am a perfectionist and that means that behind the scenes I am very critical of myself and everything I do.  Downside:  I will write and re-write and edit and re-edit and end up deleting which defeats the purpose of starting thing to begin with. (HELLO!)

2. I am fiery and passionate about certain things and sometimes I go on tangents and can’t find my way home.  Downside:  not everyone is on the same side as me and could care less about my rants-o-plenty.

3.  I have a difficult time narrowing down a specific topic because I can think of, like, 159 things to write about so I don’t give everyone whiplash.  Downside:  having a difficult time narrowing down a topic leads, yet again, to no topic at all.

Another thing about blogging is it’s so personal!  My photography is personal as well and one of the reasons it took my so long to create my business is I feel so exposed when I share my work.  It’s something I continue to work on and be okay with.  I think some of that has to do with my introversion.  I am not one of those photographers who has a blog, a website, a Meetup.com group, a book in the works, and so on (I’m exaggerating here but you get the point).  I guess the point is I am only me and only know how to be that.  I soon as I stop comparing myself with others and be okay with who I am and what I have to offer I will be a lot more content.

Therefore, in order to promote okay-ness with personal transparency I’ve decided to randomly post little known (albeit sometimes embarrassing, sometimes ridiculous but mostly fun) facts about myself as I go along.  Here goes nothin’…

{Little Known Facts About Me}

1. My photography was once accepted into a gallery but I didn’t think it was good enough so I never put it up!  (go figure)

2. I learned how to drive a 5-speed on a fire truck!

3. I have 2 dream catchers hanging up in my bedroom.

4. I am an ordained minister.

5. I was a clown in my 6th grade play.

6. I am a Sagittarius.

7. I’m like Wolvereine from X-men because I can smell dog poo & dead bodies from miles away.

8. My house is decorated with old window & door frames.

9. I’ve been in 46 states.

and last but not (really) least…(drum roll please)

10. I Googled “how to be transparent” before I wrote this blog.
